We love hearing stories about families that join together to create greatness. These three sisters have done just that! Meet Miriam, Ada, and Ayelet the sisters that created Ada Ada, an uber chic collection of clothing for little ones.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE ADA ADA?
The inspiration behind Ada Ada was and still is today a place for three sisters to come together and create something for the people we love. We want to make things for kids that will emphasize the child wearing them. We want to celebrate childhood and respect the children wearing our collection. While doing this over and over again, we are reminded of our own childhood and smile in nostalgia. Working so closely with kids is an endless source of inspiration, imagination and pure fun.
WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME ADA ADA?
First, Ada is the head designer of the brand. Also, the syllables A-D-A is one of the first sounds babies make. After we decided on the name Ada Ada, we have learned that it has a lot of different meanings in many languages. So we are very happy with our name.
THE COLLECTION IS UBER COOL. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE FROM THE FALL COLLECTION?
My favorite items of our fall winter collection are the white moon sweatshirt and the hooded capes. I feel that these items represent the spirit of the collection best. They are soft and gentle yet very stylish. There is something about these models that communicates what we stand for. They are super cool and very functional yet they do not impose on the child wearing them. I think that this is what Ada Ada is all about. Fashion without overpowering the kid that wears it.
WHAT SHOULD OUR READERS KNOW ABOUT ADA ADA THAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?
I think that the thought that we put into the actual design is very unique and special to us. Every model that we come out with is carefully designed and thought of. We use extra attention to make all of our designs comfortable and beautiful. It’s not an easy job to make clothes for kids that will look good on them (and not only look good on the hanger).
WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
We see ourselves as people of the world. We live a little everywhere. We have lived in NYC, Tel Aviv, Paris, India, and now we are exploring Lisbon. My dream is to live as near to the beach as possible no matter where I am.
IF WE WERE VISITING YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, WHAT WOULD BE ON YOUR LIST FOR US TO SEE/DO/EAT/SHOP?
If you were to visit me in NYC, I would send you to a secret community garden on 6th Street between Ave A and B or for a frozen margarita-to-go on Ludlow Street. If you were to visit me in India, I would send you to the secret waterfalls of Jibhi. In Tel Aviv, I would take you to the beach and for a home cooked meal at Orna and Ella on Shenkin Street. And as for Lisbon, I am still learning the city and would love to get some suggestions myself.
BEST BUSINESS ADVICE YOU RECEIVED?
Throughout the years I have received so much good advice. One that has managed to stick with us was told to me by a truly smart man. He said, "hang on tightly, and let go lightly". I owe him for it.
WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU STARTED ADA ADA?
I (Miriam) studied Photography at Parsons School of Design and traveled the world. Ada studied Costume Design. And Ayelet studied Psychology. It’s amazing to see how things have changed throughout the years and to see where we are today.
WHAT/WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST SOURCE OF INSPIRATION?
My biggest source of inspiration is my kids, Inbar and Ulla. They are without a doubt what makes me feel, move, do, see, think and be in life. However, I must say that as a whole children and their way of being is a true inspiration and an aspiration. Watching them play, dance, make, dress, cook, is amazing and I try and take as many things from them as I can.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 5 BLOGS TO READ?
Not a fair question, there are too many good blogs. I mean how could one follow all these amazing things? However, your blog, bkids, so happy kids, line + liv, fine little day, little scandinavian, unruly little things, little miss heirlooms, kenziepoo, and the list goes on and on and on forever.
FIVE THINGS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT.
My kids, but that does not count. Books. The Beach. White bed linens. Good food. And old French music, well music in general.
Thanks Miriam, Ada, and Ayelet!
