GOAT-MILK

We are obsessed with finding the perfect tee for our selves and our little ones.  Well we have finally found it! Goat-Milk is a beautiful and simple collection of luxe underwear and tees for little ones.

Meet Tania and Roland owners and founders of Goat-Milk...our new obsession.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE GOAT-MILK?

We saw a need in the market for simple, classic and quality basics as we shopped for our own children.

WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME?

Roland was in the elevator of his apartment building with his 2 dogs and a friend.  A woman walks into the elevator, looks at the dogs, looks at Roland and blurts out one word, "goatmilk".  She looks at Roland, then looks to his friend and doesn't get a reaction.  She asks if they speak English.  Meanwhile, they have no idea why she is shouting"goatmilk" in an elevator to strangers.  She then explains that he should give the dogs goatmilk because it gives them a shiny coat.

At this time, we had already started the company and had a name, but were not in love with it. After roland told me the elevator story it clicked and we decided to use the name goatmilk.  It's easier to digest than cow's milk, it's white (most of our line), it's consumed more in Europe.  It seemed like the perfect fit.

WE ARE OBSESSED WITH LUXE BASCIS FOR KIDS, SO WE WERE SO HAPPY WHEN WE DISCOVERED GOAT-MILK.  WE LOVE EVERY PIECE FROM THE COLLECTION.  WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ITEM FROM THE LINE?

Roland: The boys pointelle brief.  Tania: The sleeveless pointelle onesie.

WHAT SHOULD OUR READERS KNOW ABOUT GOAT-MILK THAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?

Our attention to detail and quality and our commitment to deliver on our promise of excellence.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

New York City.

IF WE WERE VISITING YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, WHAT WOULD BE ON YOUR LIST FOR US TO SEE/DO/EAT/SHOP?

I live in the village and the kids love Imperial Woodpecker on Seventh Avenue South at Perry Street.  It's New Orleans shaved ice with flavor and it's delicious.  For the grown ups, Mary's Fish Camp on West 4th Street has the best lobster rolls.  The Strand on Broadway and 12th street.  It has 8 miles worth of books.

WHAT IS THE BEST BUSINESS ADVICE YOU RECEIVED?

We get a lot of advice (both good and bad) but the best is that whenever you start something new you are going to make many mistakes and there will be disappointments.  It happens to everyone.  You just have to keep moving forward and keep committed to what you are doing and stay focused on your message.

WHAT DID YOU DO BEFORE YOU STARTED GOAT-MILK?

Roland is a creative director/photographer and I am his agent/producer.

WHO/WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SOURCE OF INSPIRATION?

Helmut Lang and old school classic European children's wear.

FIVE THINGS YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT.

Roku, NYC, great food, family/friends, and our work.

Thanks Tania and Roland!
